KEY DATES

Here is a list of important dates you need to know during the application process:

October-December: Families inquire and learn about the philosophy of Tarbut V'Torah and the approach to education at the school. In most cases, parents attend an Open House, Weekly Tour or schedule an individual tour with the Director of Admissions. Printed material is available through the Director of Admissions, either by mail, online or at the school.

January: An application form is submitted with a $500 application fee and a $125 assessment fee. The form offers parents the opportunity to describe their children in as much detail as they wish. Typically the deadline for first priority admission is in mid-January. Families should note, however, that applications are not prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis, but evaluated on the basis of an intricate process of assessment, observation and historical data. Qualified siblings of current students in good standing have first priority.

Families who need financial aid can apply either via the Internet at www.nais.org or by requesting a form from the Director of Admissions.

February-March:

Kindergarten-5th Grade
For entry to Kindergarten, students must be five years old by December 2 of the year they start TVT.

Each child will participate in an admission screening process.  The purpose of this screening is to become familiar with your son/daughter and to conference with you regarding the ability of our program to meet the needs of your child.  Our goal is to develop successful learners.  The admissions screening process allows us to gather information useful in planning together toward that goal.

Kindergarten applicants must attend a weekday morning “Taste of Kindergarten” school visit. Applicant screenings and parent interviews will take place during this visit.
Applicants in grades 1-5 need to schedule a school day visit to Tarbut during which they will participate in an individual assessment and visit a peer group classroom. These visits will allow applicants to interact with their peers and TVT faculty.

6th-12th Grade
Applicants in grades 6-12 will need to schedule a time to sit for the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). This international admission test is used in a number of independent schools and is given at several local sites. Specific dates and locations can be found on the ERB website located at http://www.erbtest.org/parents/admissions/isee .  In addition, applicants will need to schedule a school day visit to Tarbut.  In the Spring, applicants that have been recommended for admission will participate in Math, English and Hebrew placement assessments.

Completed applications and all requested forms must be received school visits can be scheduled.  Please call the Admissions Office to schedule these appointments.

Late March-Early April: An admissions team thoroughly reviews the information available for each applicant in order to determine whether our program will successfully meet the needs of each child.

April: Enrollment is offered to students among the Kindergarten applicants who, in the opinion of the admissions team, are developmentally ready for Kindergarten and who will blend together as a dynamic class that is balanced and diverse.

Students are invited to enroll in Grades 1 though 12 as space permits, after a review of an applicant's report cards, transcripts, assessments, teacher feedback, etc.

Within a few weeks of being invited to enroll, parents are asked to return signed contracts to secure space for their child or children.

Families who apply for financial aid are sent decisions by the Business Office after their students have been invited to enroll. The admissions team, which remains focused on the students, is not involved in financial decisions.
