In keeping with the TVT mission to help our students learn about themselves and acquire skills to relate to others in an effective way, the Advisory Program is designed to teach students the essentials of time management, organization and critical thinking. Every student is assigned a faculty advisor who acts as coach throughout Middle School and helps facilitate for each student a successful academic year. Students participate in retreats every fall with grade-level and faculty advisors in order to form bonds and build trust. The goal is to create a close-knit, safe community where students can feel free to discuss social lives, emotions, daily pressures and the changes they are going through.
The advisors:
· Provide academic, behavioral, interpersonal and social guidance to help students make positive choices
· Integrate values into group and individual discussions designed to allow students to consider how to be moral and ethical individuals
· Serve as points of contact for parents who have questions and acts as a liaison between parents and teachers
if a child is having difficulties. |
