Dear fellow TVT alumni,

As members of the Irving Gelman Award committee at TVT Community Day School, it is our privilege to invite your nominations for the 2019 Irving Gelman Award. This prestigious award is named in honor of Tarbut V’ Torah’s beloved Founder, Irving “Papa” Gelman. Recognized within our local and the global community as a visionary, leader and innovator, Papa Gelman was guided by the Jewish values on which TVT stands: Truth, Kindness, Respect, Justice, Community and Repairing the World. Despite every obstacle, Papa Gelman’s dream to see 100 Jewish students studying together has exceeded all expectations.

We now celebrate Papa Gelman's legacy with over 700 graduates, whose lives were enriched as a result of his dedication to Jewish education. We are blessed and inspired by his vision and journey. The Irving Gelman Award was created to recognize TVT alumni who demonstrate the character, leadership, Jewish values, vision and determination exemplified by Irving Gelman himself.

If you are, or know, an alumnus that is living Papa Gelman’s vision and values, please use the nomination form found HERE. All nominations will be given equal consideration and must be completed no later than February 15, 2019. The award recipient will be honored at TVT’s annual Gala on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Alumni tickets for the Gala will be available at by February 2019.

Please direct all questions to Faith Cohen, Director of Development at TVT, at or 949.509.9500.
