Innovation at TVT (I@TVT)

Our new school year brings the launch of Innovation at TVT (I@TVT). I@TVT is the rebooting and renaming of our previous TVT Advanced Institute of STEAM.
I@TVT is our comprehensive program that ensures we prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st century by engaging students in a rigorous learning experience with extraordinary curriculum, faculty and facilities. At the heart of I@TVT is a challenging academic program designed to break down barriers between disciplines utilizing project-based learning, technology, and interdisciplinary strategies to allow students to learn by doing.

Our team spent the past year building I@TVT with inspired curriculum and programming to complement our state-of-the art facilities. Singapore Math is our new K-5 mathematics curriculum. BEAST Academy and the Art of Problem Solving (AOPS) mathematics continue to offer stimulating critical thinking development for accelerated students. Amplify Science, a K-5 curriculum, developed at University of California Berkeley will be implemented this year.

TVT’s Engineering program begins with 6th grade students learning the foundations of engineering in the elective wheel. Students in grades 7-8 have the opportunity to enroll in pre-engineering, and students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to engage in a four-year engineering sequence to prepare themselves to pursue vigorous engineering challenges that suit their interests.

The Visual and Performing Arts at TVT got a huge shot in the arm with a newly completed dance studio that provides state-of-the-art, uninterrupted space for students to express themselves through movement. Dance classes are offered to grades K-5 after school and during the day for grades 6-8. In addition, our Film program has expanded offerings to Middle and Lower School. Classes are available for grades 3-5 after school and during the day as an elective in the Middle School. Film instructor Ms. Glickman will be engaging experts from around Southern California in film production, sound design, acting, scripting and editing to provide a full range of opportunities for our students.
