Introducing the New Lower School Division Head

We’re thrilled to announce that Ms. Sarah Escobar will join us as Lower School Division Head starting in Fall 2023.
As the culmination of a nationwide search process, we had two candidates on campus this month for the Lower School Division Head position. Each candidate had a full day of interviews with members of the administration, the LS faculty, and staff, as well as meetings with students and parents. Based on the candidates’ educational philosophies, interviews, campus visits, and the feedback provided by the different stakeholders that each candidate met, we’re thrilled to announce that Ms. Sarah Escobar will join us as Lower School Division Head starting in Fall 2023.

Dedicated to serving Jewish education for over two decades, Ms. Escobar comes to TVT with extensive experience designing curricula for elementary school students and a proven track record of advancing educator's performance and growth through coaching, mentoring, and training. She also brings a wealth of classroom teaching experience at almost every TK-5th grade level, and has most recently demonstrated her leadership abilities as Associate Head of School, overseeing Fairmont's Early Childhood Center and early elementary school. Ms. Escobar holds a B.A. in Communications and an M.A. in Education from Loyola Marymount University, and a Supervision and Administrative Certificate from the UCLA School of Education.

With Ms. Escobar's extensive experience in the field of education, we were eager to learn more about her approach to leading our Lower School. The feedback we received following her visit to TVT confirmed our confidence in her abilities. An administrator noted that she “engaged in deep conversation that motivated thought,” and one parent observed that Ms. Escobar “showed a deep understanding of the needs of both staff and students, from academics to socio-emotional experiences." We are thrilled to have Ms. Escobar as a part of our team and look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly have on our Lower School community.

Ms. Escobar is as excited to join TVT’s community as we are to have her.  “I’m honored to join TVT’s distinguished leadership team and vibrant community. I look forward to building relationships with students, teachers, and parents as we begin our work together.”

As we prepare to welcome Ms. Escobar into our community, I want to take this opportunity to thank our current Lower School Division Head Dr. Michelle Bernat for her dedicated service to TVT and the support she has provided our students and families.
