Student Support & Learning Center

TVT Learning Center services reflect assessment, research, and best practice in education. We provide educational resources, programs and support for all learners at TVT and offer a full-inclusion program for students with learning differences. Our teachers collaborate with TVT learning specialists to ensure the continuity of program services across all grade levels.

  • Educational Therapy

    This a form of therapy used to treat individuals with learning differences, disabilities, and challenges. A wide range of intensive interventions are offered that are designed to remediate learning problems. These interventions are individualized and unique to the specific learner.
  • Organizational Support

    Students can receive individualized, organizational support in the Learning Center. Students receive help with homework planning and completion, weekly grade checks, project timelines, supervision and follow up. Group Support classes are offered for students in grades 6–12 during the school day. Organizational support sessions are offered afterschool for students in grades 3-5.
  • SOAR

    The SOAR® Learning & Soft Skills Curriculum for College & Career Readiness (aka SOAR Study Skills Curriculum) teaches the most critical learning, organizing, and communication skills needed to be successful in school, college and the workplace. 

    These skills include: Identifying students' strengths, setting goals and establishing priorities, time management, organization of space and materials, reading and understanding textbooks, note taking, test preparation, writing research papers, preparing for presentations, and tracking long-term goals.

    The program is offered by the TVT Learning Center during the late start Wednesdays from 8:00-8:40 am during the Fall Semester and Spring Semesters.
  • Technology Interventions

    Scientific Learning Fast ForWord is a computer based reading intervention program that builds oral language, memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing- the literacy and cognitive skills essential for reading. Students also makes gains in vocabulary and Reading Comprehension with this program.

    The Cogmed training method consists of 25 computer based training sessions done online, each 30–45 minutes long. Each session consists of a selection of various tasks that target the different aspects of working memory. The training is done online at home or in school. The standard program is five weeks long with five sessions every week. It is a rigorous program designed to improve working memory through intensive and systematic training.

    Tomatis Solisten is a sound training therapy providing pre-programmed selected and processed music to stimulate the Auditory Processing System. This stimulation enables a precise integration of acoustic information and allows the brain to better receive, select, and process this information.
  • Testing Center and Accommodations

    The TVT Testing Center is a quiet room where students with documented learning differences may take their tests. A test proctor is assigned to this room and assists students with understanding the test format and test directions. Students with documented learning differences at TVT can make arrangements to use the Testing Center. Special testing accommodations such as test reader, scribe, and Scantron marking services are also available for students who qualify with Learning Center Enrollment.
The confidence and learning skills that my son gained with this program have changed his life. He has been given the tools to excel and show his true capabilities in the classroom.
