Head of School Update

TVT is the manifestation of a dream; dreams to honor our ancestors, to inspire our children to live a rich, meaningful, and Jewishly inspired life.

To this end, our faculty and staff provide our children with a school that offers an education that is second to none.

It is rewarding when our collective dreams are acknowledged by esteemed organizations. I’m pleased to share extraordinary news.
The 2018 NICHE rankings identified TVT as the:

#1 Ranked K-12 Private School in Orange County
#1 Ranked Jewish School in California

#2 Ranked Jewish School in the United States

Additionally, I am proud to inform you that TVT’s 2018 Advanced Placement (AP) pass rate was phenomenal —
the best ever. Our students took 155 exams with a stunning pass rate of 90%. Overall, our students sat for exams in
18 rigorous subject areas. In 12 of these subject areas the pass rate was 100%!

I’m particularly proud of the correlation that the highest standardized test scores frequently belong to the student that has attended TVT the longest. Every year, about half of the senior graduation class are “lifers”, having benefited from a TVT education since kindergarten.

Our student enrollment grew this year at a rate in excess of 8%. Our opening day enrollment is 570 students. I’m also pleased to report that as we welcome more diverse families to our TVT community, our enrollment of Jewish students continues to increase as well.

The remarkable success of our graduates’ admission to top universities and the exceptionally high student standardized test scores speak volumes to the quality of the faculty, curriculum and governance of our school.
That said, I know and deeply believe that test scores are not the end-all and be-all of an outstanding education. Tests are merely one means to assess one piece of a school program. They do not measure the Jewish values that are being taught, the sense of pride and identity that is being instilled, the culture that is being nurtured, and the appreciation of what is important in life that is being modeled. I believe that all of these qualities are important for
a child’s quality education.

At TVT we live and believe, “Academics are important, character is paramount.”

I am so grateful for the good work of our teachers, staff, trustees and administrators, who have all been integral
to our continuing success.

I hope you had a pleasant summer and are looking forward to the new school year as much as I am.

All the best,

Jeffrey Davis Ed.D.
