S is for solving problems. 

TVT students don’t just solve the problems their teachers set in front of them, they actively seek problems to solve. Their curiosity is fueled by confidence in their strengths and capabilities. With curricula that are always relevant and interdisciplinary, students are more engaged in their learning because they know that what they discover inside TVT can be applied outside of TVT. From Fab Lab prototypes to music composition to environmental research that creates real impact, our students are already contributing their intellect, mindsets, and hearts toward a better tomorrow.

T is for traditions. 

As our students prepare for the future, they stay rooted in Jewish tradition and culture. The pluralistic TVT experience encompasses weekly Kabbalat Shabbat, annual celebrations of holidays, Jewish studies, and Hebrew classes so that students of all faiths can explore and understand their identities and roles as they take shape in the wider world. In shared rituals, open conversations, and Jewish practices, self-reflection skills are gained, and a deeper awareness of actions, consequences, and community forms in each individual.

R is for Relationships

TVT students persist through every challenge because every child connects with teachers who believe in them. These relationships are what drive our whole community. Teachers spend quality time with their students and craft lessons that engage, excite, and celebrate ingenuity, ensuring extensive understanding of the subject matter. From phonics studies to complex mathematical equations to argumentative essay writing, students approach assignments with verve and confidence because they trust their teachers will not only challenge them but also encourage their full potential.

From our campus resources to our classroom projects, inquiry and innovation are what we know best. The drive to question, hypothesize, build, rebuild, reflect, and move forward makes our learning experiences meaningful. Current event showcases, marketplace activities, and Tikkun Olam Days are just a few of the experiential learning opportunities that help students deepen their knowledge, foster curiosity and groundbreaking ideas, and hone critical and creative thinking skills.

Lower School

Beginning in TK, TVT students are gaining problem-solving strategies and skills that they can apply in their daily lives. From mathematics to physical education to character development, we develop interdisciplinary, hands-on curricula so that every moment becomes a high-powered, joyful learning experience for Lower School students. Teachers are trusted and beloved as they challenge and cheer on TVT students to do their best, be their best, and dream up a beautiful future.

Our Lower School is a dynamic and engaging environment where students constantly move, explore, and learn. Throughout the day, they interact with many talented educators and experience various disciplines in a hands-on, energetic setting. Their enthusiasm is palpable, and they consistently perform beyond grade-level expectations in every way.

Beast Academy Mathematics Curriculum

The Beast approach to mathematics encourages perseverance and adaptability, collaboration, and strong mathematical communication. It creates excitement and builds skills that equip students to be high-level mathematicians in the Middle and Upper schools.

Design-Thinking Sciences

Real-world engineering, computer science, and science challenges motivate students to share ideas, receive feedback, and come up with solutions together. Each science unit concludes with a hands-on, interactive project, from constructing ramps to demonstrate Newton’s laws of motion to designing and building pinball machines to explore energy transfer.

Small-Group Instruction

Students engage in personalized, targeted learning experiences that meet their unique needs, fostering deeper understanding, active participation, and confidence. At least twice a day, students collaborate in small groups as their teachers work closely to provide individualized feedback and reinforce skills taught in whole-group instruction.

The Science of Reading

Lower School students develop essential literacy skills by practicing phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text decoding as they build a lifelong love of reading. Whether kindergartners are singing their phonics song or 4th graders are preparing for their Battle of the Books competition, instruction is intentional and engaging.

 TVT Lower School students transition to our Middle School seamlessly. They have the skills that allow them to approach a tricky math equation with calm confidence, step outside of a thorny social situation and view it from multiple perspectives, and independently arrive at innovative and creative solutions to any challenge.

An Experience That Excites Them

Middle School

TVT middle schoolers cannot wait to get to school. As Middle School students progress through 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, they take ownership of their learning and continue to develop their integrity along the way. With the help of expert faculty who inspire them and collaborate with them, students explore their identities and strengths through relevant assignments and discussions, service projects and field trips, and creation-focused teamwork.
